Thank you so much for this Substack! Definitely one of my top favourites so far. I’ve been subject to a lot of rejection and defeat during the last couple months and have, too, found solace in Greek and Chinese philosophy. I find that strife, if not used to flourish, can also be used to add an artistic flavour to one’s writing (as is observed with many writers throughout history). Therefore, I cannot see any of us emerging from these experiences without increased strength in every aspect. Blessed luck to you in all your endeavours!
I took away - from the context of the three perspectives - that setting aside the expectations from the outside are best turned into space for opportunities of expression from the inside out. Not an abandonment of activity, but an invitation to delight in it. The tree held great purpose for under its natural-given shade the carpenter and his apprentice rested and spoke.

So very true, and thank you for your kind words ❤️
The last quote...the crevace that awaits my daily decision.
Thank you for the story of the tree. It was a profound look into usefulness and simply allowed to grow older without expectations.

I think the key insight you have is a carpenter and the apprentice. One needs guidance and communication when developing a craft.
Hang in there, Mr. Library. A person of your erudition and sensitivity is bound to prevail.
